    1. Water Conservation: Reduce water waste: Repair leaks promptly and consider installing low-flow toilets, showerheads, and faucet aerators.
Spread out water use: Avoid running multiple large appliances (like washing machines or dishwashers) at the same time.
    2. Proper Waste Disposal: Avoid flushing inappropriate items: Do not flush grease, oil, food scraps, feminine hygiene products, plastics, medications, or chemicals. Limit garbage disposal use: Reduce the amount of solid waste entering the system.
    3. Regular Maintenance: Pump your septic tank regularly: The Delaware DENREC recommends pumping every three years. Maintain the drain field: Avoid driving over the drain field, keep trees away, and ensure proper drainage of rainwater away from the system. Use septic-safe products: Choose detergents and cleaners that are designed to be compatible with septic systems.
    4. Other Considerations: Avoid harsh chemicals: Chemical drain cleaners and disinfectants can harm the beneficial bacteria in your septic tank. Protect the drain field: Avoid planting trees or shrubs near the drain field that could interfere with pipes.
Keep records all record since we will ask for them to help your inspection run smoothly:
